This program is designed for students who have already reached the A1 level. After you register, we will ask you to provide proof of your language proficiency (Alliance Française certificate, official DELF-DALF transcript, TCF, or TEF) or we will administer a placement test to determine whether you are at the A1, A2, B1, or B2 level.

Every week, you’ll take part in small-group activities: neighborhood tours, museum visits, tastings of Quebec products, cultural workshops… All in French, of course!

Absolutely! Our courses are both relaxed and structured. They’re designed to get you talking as much as possible and to anchor the essential basics of grammar and vocabulary, without becoming academic.

We prefer small groups (6/8 people) to encourage discussion and give everyone a chance to speak.

No, but they’re highly recommended: they’re included in the price, and that’s where the magic happens for natural progress and bonding!

Absolutely! There are three three-week cycles, and each week features different content and excursions.

Unfortunately, no. Appointments are included in the all-inclusive package for the immersion week.

It’s not mandatory, but we strongly recommend that you purchase health and travel insurance before you leave. Medical costs can be very high in Canada and Quebec, even for seemingly minor procedures.

Montreal is a very pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly city, especially since driving can be quite challenging. Therefore, to get to the scheduled tours, you will need to walk and/or take public transportation. Some tours may require standing for a fairly long time.

No, unfortunately, the program is open only to adults in Quebec, meaning those aged 18 and older.

The price includes:

  • 15 hours of in-person group French classes
  • Course materials
  • Activities and tours
  • Guided tours
  • A weekly metro/bus pass
  • Lunch on Friday

Several options are available: the STM’s 747 bus, a taxi, or a ride-hailing service. The AFMTL does not arrange taxi reservations. The trip from Trudeau Airport to downtown takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on traffic conditions.

Do you already have a level certificate from an Alliance Française or an Institut français? Have you received a score report from an official French language exam (TCF, TEF, DELF-DALF, DFP)? In either case, please send them to info@afmtl.ca to confirm your enrollment in the appropriate level.

Si vous n’avez pas d’attestation de niveau, nous vous inviterons à passer un test oral avec un membre de notre équipe.

Usually, group participants get to know each other right from the first day and eat together. There are plenty of options near the Alliance Française: sandwich shops, cafés, bakeries, pizzerias, restaurants serving international cuisine… You’ll have plenty of choices!

On the last day, a meal is organized at the Alliance Française for all the students in the program.
