Skills required:

  • Training: Higher education diploma in education or in FLE/FLS (university baccalaureate, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, DU FLE) or DAEFLE diploma;
  • Knowledge of CEFR levels ;

Appreciated skills :

  • Experience in distance learning, must be comfortable with computer, digital and videoconferencing tools;
  • DELF/DALF examiner-corrector accreditation and/or TEF/TCF examiner accreditation currently valid
  • Foreign language(s)

Reporting to the General Manager, the “educational development” manager will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the quality of the “educational development” axis to reinforce AFMTL’s educational mission.

The “Pedagogical Development” Manager will be responsible for improving the pedagogical offer in collaboration with the operational team and the communications and marketing team. He/she reports to the Pedagogical Department and will work in close collaboration with the “Courses and Certifications” and “Customized and Corporate Courses” managers.

At the same time, the “pedagogical development” manager will be working on a regular basis as a teacher and examiner for TCF-TEF certificates and DELF-DALF diplomas.

The tasks of the “educational development” manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

Analysis and strategic planning of the global educational offering

  • Based on AFMTL’s own statistics, propose strategies to increase student recruitment and retention and ensure the quality of the overall offering;
  • Monitor language policy in Quebec and Canada (i.e., changes in certification recognition for immigration purposes);
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in the didactics of French as a foreign and second language, learn about the resources available, and develop teaching programs accordingly.

Development of our educational offering

  • Propose and implement new programs for learning French as a foreign and second language (courses with specific objectives, in-company courses, civil service courses, etc.);
  • Develop and present new offers (product sheets), get them approved, and put them into production in consultation with the teaching team, operational teams and marketing and communications teams;
  • Develop French language stays for non-French-speaking students;
  • Propose and participate in improving the overall educational offering.

Teacher and examiner

  • The manager will regularly give mini-group courses, either privately or in companies;
  • The person in charge will regularly administer exams as a TCF-TEF or DELF-DALF examiner.

Student follow-up

  • Participate in the recruitment of new students; evaluate them systematically and guide them in their choice of courses;
  • Informing students about the association’s premises and operations; informing them about the course of study and the method used; raising awareness and promoting the activities on offer, workshops, meetings, etc… ;
  • Listening to students, keeping abreast of their requests and needs.

Internal communications management

  • Facilitate communication with the rest of the team, effectively prepare and lead pedagogical meetings and ensure that everyone’s roles are clearly defined and respected;
  • Help update the Alliance’s website and social networking pages for the teaching section;
  • Participate in the life of the organization to help make it a place where French and Francophone cultures are expressed in all fields.

Depending on AFMTL’s needs, and at the request of his or her superiors, the manager may be called upon to carry out other tasks linked to the activity of the teaching or certification department.

The profile sought for the “educational development” manager is as follows:

Diplomas/training :

  • Post-secondary diploma in a field related to language teaching, or any other diploma related to relevant work experience;
  • Master’s degree in education / Master’s 1 or 2 in French as a foreign language (FLE) ;
  • TCF, TEF, DELF-DALF A1-C2 examiner-corrector accreditation.

Skills and knowledge required:

  • With extensive experience in teaching French as a foreign language (FLE), in similar organizations ;
  • Knowledge and experience in coordinating teaching teams and managing language activities;
  • Mastery of IT tools related to his/her sector of activity (Arc-en-ciel, etc.) and office automation tools (Office 365) necessary for his/her function ;
  • French mother tongue or proven C2 level, English B2 level minimum.

Experience and skills :

  • Solid pedagogical knowledge and skills ;
  • Good interpersonal skills, to lead the teaching team in a positive and constructive way;
  • Excellent knowledge of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) ;
  • Experience in managing teachers and students;
  • Experience in marketing and corporate communications desirable.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Administrative Assistant, Customer Service will perform the following duties:

Customer service

  • Respond to requests from customers/students/candidates/members, informing them about the offer adapted to their needs (courses, exams, events…), using different types of media (telephone, e-mail, face-to-face…);
  • Welcoming customers/students/candidates/members;
  • Help manage course and exam registrations or any other organized activities, and update paper or digital administrative files;
  • Sell and/or distribute educational and other products;

Office management

  • Assist the Operations Manager in the smooth running of operations;
  • Help with the logistics and preparation of classrooms, examination rooms and public areas;
  • Help organize association activities (events, workshops, conferences, webinars);
  • Participate in the life of the association to help make it a welcoming, warm and safe place.

Profile required

Technical skills

  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and administrative and educational management software;
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with a strong sense of customer service
  • Bilingual in spoken and written French and English (minimum C1), a third language is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Alliances Françaises or Institut Français exams an asset.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Exam Proctor / IT Support Technician will perform the following duties:

Examination monitoring – 65% of time

  • Ensuring a professional, high-quality service during exams;
  • Welcome candidates and answer their questions during exam sessions;
  • Strictly follow the procedures imposed by the examination center;
  • Prepare the examination room, ensuring that all IT equipment is operational;
  • Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of software applications;

IT support – 35% of time

  • Diagnose and solve hardware, software and network problems;
  • Manage user accounts and access to information systems;
  • Configure and maintain computer workstations;
  • Install, configure and update computer applications;

  • Develop and implement innovative and attractive communication strategies to increase the visibility of the Alliance Française de Montréal.
